- that handgun ammunition buyers must make their purchases in person, not by mail order or the internet,
- that handgun ammunition not be displayed by retailers in a location where customers can have access to it, thus necessitating that the retailer obtain it from storage upon a potential buyers specific request,
- that retailers record and maintain information about the sale of ammunition and the buyer,
- that retailers who sell more than one box (50 rounds) of handgun ammunition per month obtain a handgun ammunition sellers permit from the Department, and other related provisions that would be harmful to ammunition buyers.

SB 585 IS AN ATTACK ON GUN SHOWS Its supporters are misinformed in their belief that criminals can easily and illegally buy firearms and ammunition at Cow Palace gun shows. The truth is that the legal requirements for sales of firearms and ammunition at gun shows are no different than for sales at retail firearms dealer’s stores. Prohibiting the sale of firearms and ammunition at Cow Palace gun shows would serve no useful crime reduction purpose. Banning sales at gun shows would eliminate a legal venue for transferring firearms through a licensed firearms dealer.
