California law requires that firearms transfers between California residents go through a licensed firearms dealer. Here is a check list, an explanation of costs and required documents, and a description of the Private Party Transfer process as we understand it.

 

Shipping a firearm from gun dealer to gun dealer can be expensive and loaded with paperwork.
In many cases you can eliminate much of the expense and red tape by bypassing the shipping dealer and shipping your firearm directly to the recieving dealer of your choice.
